Although many traditional farmers have had a delay in their harvests due to our cold spring, we continue to harvest the produce that grows year round in our greenhouse. Each week this summer we plan to be at the Lake Elmo Farmers Market which is every Saturday through September 7th, located at the Elementary School parking lot. Tomorrow from 9 am to 1 pm, we'll be there with a variety of freshly harvested aquaponically grown lettuce, cucumbers and peppers, as well as hydroponically grown tomatoes and a variety of microgreens. Abundant healthy and delicious goodness!
Growing in an enclosed, controlled environment with only water means there is no chance of soil-borne disease, contamination from animals, contamination from chemical run-off from other fields, etc. From what I can tell, the worst thing that gets on our produce is pollen that drifts in through the screens when the side vents are open during the warm spring and summer days!
Come and visit us tomorrow. If you have questions about aquaponics or what we have going on in our greenhouse, we'd love to chat with you!
