Cambridge Farmers Market Still Going
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! Just wanted to give you an update on what's going on in the greenhouse and to let you know the Cambridge Farmer's Market is still going on. This market goes through the end of October!
Many people think gardens are done for the year so what could they possibly have at the market? Farmers are so innovative with their growing methods and hard working, many vegetables are still going strong. You not only have the fresh vegetables to choose from, there is a terrific variety of items in jars, and of course there are seasonal items to boot. For eating and decorating 😊 In addition to these fabulous items there is a great variety of baked and crafted items! Don't even get me started on the Cinnamon Rolls 😋
Here's what's going on for us. We're still plugging away at the lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers and microgreens grown in the greenhouse. Remember, all of our greenhouse produce is grown without soil or chemicals. These pictures were taken this morning before I started harvesting. There are plenty of buds and babies. We're hoping these turn into good produce before the end of the month 🍅🥒
If you're not familiar with microgreens, simply put, they are miniature plants loaded with nutrients and flavor. There is no better natural way to add nutrition to your diet than to include microgreens in a salad, on a sandwich, meat, potatoes, eggs, throw in a smoothie, etc. To pick one, let's talk about Sunflower microgreens. These alone contain Vitamins A, B complex, D, and E, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus. The best part is, these can be eaten alone as a snack! They taste just like the sunflower seeds you eat out of a bag🌱
Tomorrow at the @cambridgefarmersmarketmn we'll have hydroponically grown lettuce, microgreens, and green peppers. We will have a nice selection of tomatoes, as well, but they are some of the last from our traditional soil garden. We'll be at City Center parking lot from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. So come and check out all the vendors, and everything they worked hard to share with you. We'd love to see you!
